Rabbi Armond & Anne Cohen Sisterhood Book Group Meeting and Luncheon
June 2014

The Park Synagogue Sisterhood Book Group celebrated its last meeting for the season with Gerry Powers Volper presenting a selection from Letters from Gelvan. The mesmerizing story of how she discovered the letters in her father's tallit bag and the secrecy behind them kept the large crowd on the edge of its seat. The letters, written from Gerry and Etty Hoffman's grandfather to their father, provide a view into their family's life, world views and relationships from 1910 to 1925. After the touching presentation, the group gathered for a lovely luncheon. Watch for their next reading selection in the August Bulletin and join this amazing group!

The story of the Letters from Gelvan was written about in the Cleveland Jewish News in May of 2003.  Click here to read that article.

 Installation Luncheon, May 2014

The Park Synagogue Sisterhood closed its season with a lovely Installation Luncheon followed by a beautiful performance by James Love and Peter Tavens. Thank you to the Luncheon Chairs, Beverly Davis, Florence Lander and Faye Strassman for another successful event. A special thank you to everyone who served on the Sisterhood Board last year and welcome to new incoming Board members for 2014-2015!

 Torah Fund Luncheon, April 2014

The Park Synagogue and B'nai Jeshurun Sisterhoods came together for their annual Torah Fund Luncheon. They were delighted by the surprise attendance of Jewish Theological Seminary Chancellor, Arnold M. Eisen, who was in town for a program. Rent-A-Yenta (the duo of Cheryl Eitman and Beverly Simmons) provided a wonderful musical end to the day! Many thanks to the Torah Fund Chairs, Rita Weintraub and Sandee Baumal (Park) and Lori Gottleib and Zahava Galun (BJ).
