Park Synagogue will be the epicenter of a special weekend celebration of the world-renowned architect, Eric Mendelsohn. Explore our history and learn the fascinating symbolism behind the design choices Mendelsohn made 65 years ago. Watch the award-winning new documentary about Eric Mendelsohn, "Incessant Visions," and meet its filmmaker, Duki Dror. And don't miss viewing the recently discovered original Mendelsohn sketches of Park Synagogue Main!

This event is held in partnership with the Jewish Federation's  Cleveland Israel Arts Connection and Case Western Reserve University.

Architecture & Religious Observance

Attend Shabbat services and hear Park Synagogue's Senior Rabbi, Joshua Skoff, deliver an engaging sermon on the relationship between architecture and religious observance.

Mendelsohn Exhibit

Visit the special exhibition of Mendelsohn’s recently discovered visionary sketches of Park Synagogue, historic photographs, Mendelsohn-designed Torah breastplates and furniture.

"Incessant Visions" Screening

Watch the film that illuminates the fascinating life of architect Mendelsohn told through letters exchanged with his wife, Louise. The filmmaker, Duki Dror, along with Jay Geller, Ph.D., Samuel Rosenthal Professor of Judaic Studies at CWRU, will share their observations following the screening.

Explore Park Synagogue and View the Exhibit

After the film, take a self-guided tour of the historic synagogue and witness the vision of Eric Mendelsohn. Stop by the special exhibition of Mendelsohn’s recently discovered visionary sketches of Park Synagogue, historic photographs, Mendelsohn-designed Torah breastplates and furniture.

Eric Mendelsohn's Park Synagogue: Architecture & Community by Walter C. Leedy Jr.  The book examines Eric Mendelsohn's modernist building, The Park Synagogue, one of the most significant post-World War II buildings in the United States.
